Scroll Poem For Faith¶
For Faith
The curtain of night was drawing across the sky,
Like the blackest of ink did this darkness ply,
Covering, blanketing and consuming the sun,
The soldier looked up, and knew what must be done.
When the bright hues of Ereal no longer shone,
And the air grew cold and the wind did moan,
He braced himself with a shadowed face,
And his feet sped him on with a quickened pace.
Fear and emptiness took ahold of his heart,
Without the warmth of the sun doubt had its start,
Pitch black was the night but he stumbled on,
All but the smallest shred of faith completely gone.
He fought and battled with the mounting despair,
Set his jaw and looked into the darkness with a glare,
Then spoke into the silent night , "Here I will stand."
Eyes set to the sky, he then raised up a hand.
Black turned to gray, then to orange and gold,
As the darkness drew back and lost its hold.
Greeting the beautiful and bright globe with a sigh,
The soldier knew always and forever, Ereal will rise high.
