Leather Working

Skill Overview

Leatherworking is the craft of shaping hides and leather into armor, clothing, containers, weapon fittings, and other useful goods. Leatherworkers measure and cut their materials into individual components before shaping, thinning, punching, lacing, sewing, or riveting those pieces together into finished items.

The craft is capable of producing everything from simple belts, pouches, and knife sheaths to backpacks, boots, scabbards, and protective equipment such as cuirasses, greaves, helmets, manicae, and pteryges. Finished leather goods may also be further embellished or improved through techniques such as lining, embossing, and the application of metal studs.

Most leatherworking projects are completed through a series of recipes. Individual components must first be produced and worked before they can be assembled into the finished item.

For guidance on using the skill set, see the Leather Working Guide(in progress).

Notes on Learning

  • You cannot train 'Basic Leatherworking'. Your Basic Leatherworking rank increases as you train the sub-skills.
  • Leatherworking requires the knowledge of specific recipes. Once these recipes are known, you do not need to learn additional ranks.
  • When you learn the Basic Leatherworking skill with GSP, you also learn the following sub-skills and the Gladius Sheathe recipe.
  • All Leatherworking skills require a recipe to be recalled to used. Use recipe-recall and select from the options listed.

Related commands are commands that require no skill or training to use, but are necessary as part of the Leatherworking skill set.

Threading thread with

Before performing actions such as stitching, your needle must be threaded. Your needle must be re-threaded, if ever you get to the end of your spool of thread.

When you see this in use you see:

> *thread need with my thread* You thread a silver sewing needle with a spiraled grip carefully with a spool of undyed homespun wool thread.

Knot knot with

What is a tailor to do with the remnants of their spools of thread? Combine them with other remnants using the knot command. No skill is necessary.

When you see this in use you see:

> *knot spool with 2 spool* You knot a spool of undyed homespun wool thread carefully with a spool of undyed homespun wool thread.
