One Handed Crushing¶
Skill Overview¶
The Iridine short mace is a single piece of bronze, or rarely iron, about sixteen inches long. The last four inches are a roughly spherical piece of metal. The sphere often has studs or spikes to make it more dangerous to human flesh. This metal cudgel is favored for its concealability, being as easy to stash under a loose tunic as a long knife and much better for a non-lethal assault. A few years ago gladiators began using these maces as backup weapons, too, because it's easy to carry one in case you lose your main weapon, and because the crowd likes to see such "interesting" variety. Small maces and clubs have also been popular among street thugs and the like, relying less upon skill and more upon brute strength and surprise.
Other cultures, primarily primitive ones, have been known to use clubs extensively. Simple to use and easy to craft, the war club is an effective weapon from a nation lacking in technical expertise. The Blackroot have been known to use this weapon most extensively, though their large two-handed clubs are often used in a different manner than their smaller Iridine cousins. The spiked club is known to deal punctures rather than bruises.
For guidance on using the skill set, see the One Handed Crushing Guide.

Skill Details¶
Club Crush crush ¶
One of the more barbaric maneuvers, crush is a technique of bringing a club over one's head and then bringing it down in a powerful swatting action. If blocked, there is a chance of disarming your opponent.
When you see this in use you see:
Club Strike strike ¶
A common, simple technique of bringing a club down in a striking motion.
When you see this in use you see:
Club Side Strike side ¶

When you see this in use you see:
Club Swat swat ¶
A simple technique of using a club to strike an opponent with a quick back-handed movement.
When you see this in use you see:

When you see this in use you see:
Club Simple Block n/a¶
A basic blocking maneuver in which the wielder interposes the club in front of a simple or direct attack.
When you see this in use you see:
Club Round Strike round ¶
The wielder swings, shifting his grip and making the strike end of the weapon circle a bit. If it succeeds, it is a normal attack- save that it's much easier to block. If it is blocked, then a second attack is made instantly, the weapon revolving around the blocking weapon. This "second chance" attack has half normal effectiveness, but against someone who'se good at blocking can be much better than nothing. This can be aimed as well, which is a good thing, since the attack is pretty weak.
- Ranks in One-Handed Crushing and Round Strike count toward the chance to circumvent the target's defenses.
When you see this in use you see:
Club Leg Strike legstrike ¶
The wielder aims a vicious lateral blow at the opponent's lower legs. If the maneuver succeeds, little damage is inflicted but there is a chance of tripping the opponent (defender's agility may counter this, the opponent is knocked down only if the roll is 30 over the success). The higher the strength of the character, the greater the effectiveness). This attack is much like Staves or Spears Sweep, except that it can cause quite a bit of damage (despite the official description), and doesn't always knock the person down. I like this one quite a bit.
When you see this in use you see:
Club Knock Aside knockaside ¶
The wielder strikes at the opponent's weapon hand. If the maneuver succeeds, the struck weapon may be knocked aside, leaving the opponent off-guard for the next attack
When you see this in use you see:
Club Cross Block n/a¶
Essentially the same as crossblocks with various other weapons, the wielder moves the club across the field where the weapons clash, knocking a strike aside. More effective than a simple block with this weapon. Defends against slashing attacks to the midsection.
When you see this in use you see:
Club Head Block n/a¶
Protects against problematic attacks such as weapon hooks and catches, or overhead chops aimed at the midsection.
When you see this in use you see:
Club Upswing upswing ¶
A slightly more difficult bashing maneuver, but reversed. Swinging the club down and bashing upwards.
When you see this in use you see:
Club Simple Bash bash ¶
Simple technique of bashing downward at an opponent with one's club.
When you see this in use you see:
Club Hop Bash hbash ¶
Powerful maneuver in which the user jumps up and bring his club down on the opponent as he descends. If blocked, there is a chance of disarming your opponent.
When you see this in use you see:
Club Shield-Breaker break ¶
The wielder aims a heavy arc with his club at an opponent's shield, with the sole intent of damaging it, possibly even destroying it.
When you see this in use you see:
Club Stepping Crush scrush ¶
Executing this attack will leave the attacker in a more aggressive posture and cannot be used from a berserk posture.
When you see this in use you see:
Iunius' Stance iunius?stance¶
The maximum bonus for a weapon stance is generally achieved at 100 ranks.
