Influence¶
(Political) Influence¶
Spending Influence¶
This is similar to the organizational 'credit' system. The patrician's dignitas will be divided by 10 and multiplied by 1.5 to get the number of 'influence' per year. Those with jobs are often aligned with an organization and hence, don't get any added influences.
However, an influence can be given out for exceptional events and/or exceptional time commitment/interaction with the game. This means that if a given patrician is always interacting in the game and holding regular events, they may be awarded an influence. This would be no more than one per month and would be announced in *patrician. Note that other items may be added as they seem appropriate.
Influence will be awarded yearly in mid-June.
Influence can be used on the following things:
| Description | Cost |
|---|---|
| Reasonable items for an event (see Note1)* | 1 influence |
| Patron attending an event | 1 influence |
| Other NPC attending an event | 1 influence |
| Access to a certain building for an event (see Note2)* | 1 influence |
| Give a sponsored organization an extra credit | 1 influence |
| Fastening items in 1 room | 1 influence |
| Aid a client in being allowed back into a building | 1 influence |
| Purchase citizenship for a client | 2 influences + 100 T |
| Purchase a new holding | 5-10 influences & +100t |
| Raise dignitas by 1-5 points | 2-10 influences & 100-500t |
| Raise popularity by 1 point | 1 influence & 50t |
| Aid with an event | 1 influence & (IC costs) |
| Something else as agreed with GM. | (costs TBD) |
| A lock and 3 keys | 1 influence & 5t |
| Aid a client that was arrested (see Note3)* | 1-5 influence (See Note1) |
| Job bonus (see Note4)* | 1-3 influences & 10-30t (See Note2) |
| House Item (see Note5)* | 1 influence & (IC costs) (See Note3) |
Note1: i.e. prizes for a contest they hold, small item for intrigue event, etc. This needs to be cleared with a GM, of course.
Note2: This has to be cleared with a GM, and has to make sense.
Note3: This could affect their dignitas / popularity directly if it is a bad move. Generally, it is best to work through IC channels for this sort of thing. The influence would entail a letter being written to the Legate stating that it might be a good idea to be lenient and/or let the person go. If the person is a known criminal, this wouldn't necessarily be possible and the request would result in a no and loss of dignitas.
Note4: Someone can spend influence to increase their chances of getting a specific job. The chance is based on their dignitas and their patron's dignitas. This would directly affect that number increasing it by however many influences they spent. The talents correspond to the number of influences you spend. 1 influence and 10t, 3 influences and 30t.
Note5: This is to purchase something identifying for clients who have served faithfully. A status symbol. You can get 5 items that the GM agrees are appropriate. Such things as an engraved iron ring are suitable. They all need to be the same, however. So, the engraving could be 'For faithful service to House Allende' and then a stylized A on the iron band. Just an example. These shouldn't be given out without a good reason. If a client or employee does something extraordinary like save their patron's life, apprehend a traitor to the house, etc. something like this would be appropriate.
Those with very low dignitas will receive more dignitas for less (i.e. it doesn't take much for them to raise their dignitas it is so low). Likewise, those with very few holdings will have an easier time getting a holding. Below is an idea of how it will work:
| Dignitas | Influence | Talents | Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| <30 | 2 | 100t | 5 |
| 30-60 | 3 | 200t | 3 |
| >60 | 5 | 500t | 1 |
| Holdings | Influence | Talents |
|---|---|---|
| 1-3 | 5 | worth* 4 |
| 4-6 | 6 | worth* 5 |
| 7-8 | 7 | worth* 6 |
| 9-10 | 8 | worth* 7 |
| 11-12 | 9 | worth* 8 |
| >12 | 10 | worth* 10 |
